Hayden Panettiere’s former co-star from ‘Guiding Light,’ Beth Chamberlin, expressed confidence that the actress would overcome her difficulties and emerge stronger before her sudden death at 36. Chamberlin, who portrayed Panettiere’s on-screen mother on the 90s soap opera, shared insights about their special connection and the resilience she observed in Panettiere during tough times.
In an interview with Fox News Digital, Chamberlin reminisced about the ‘special bond’ she had with the late actress. She expressed her belief in Panettiere’s potential to deliver extraordinary performances once she conquered her personal challenges. Notably, renowned actress Viola Davis had also commented on the anticipation surrounding Panettiere’s future work.
Tragically, the ‘Heroes’ and ‘Nashville’ star was found deceased in a Greenville, South Carolina residence on Aug. 16. Her on-and-off boyfriend, Brian Hickerson, and his brother called 911 after discovering her unresponsive. They provided authorities with medication Panettiere had reportedly been taking.
Panettiere’s mother, Lesley Vogel, voiced concerns regarding Brian’s influence on her daughter’s life and passing. In a statement to Entertainment Tonight, she suggested a toxic individual contributed to Panettiere’s death, despite efforts to remove him from her life.
The Greenville County Coroner’s Office indicated that preliminary autopsy results showed no trauma signs that contributed to Panettiere’s death. However, the investigation remains ongoing. Additionally, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is involved in the investigation.
Chamberlin fondly remembered Panettiere as a remarkably talented child actor set to excel in her craft. Praising her work on ‘Guiding Light,’ she highlighted the actress’s skill in executing scenes accurately on the first take, a feat required for multi-camera soap operas.
Panettiere began her career early, appearing in commercials as a baby and securing a role on ‘One Life to Live’ at around four years old. Her breakthrough came as Claire Bennet in NBC’s ‘Heroes,’ followed by her role as Juliette Barnes in ‘Nashville.’
Though Chamberlin typically advised against child acting careers, she made an exception for Panettiere, seeing her as a natural fit for the industry. She emphasized the desire for Panettiere to be remembered for her ‘extraordinary talent’ and the exceptional work she delivered on set.
