An armed individual engaged in a shootout with a suspect during a fatal incident at an In-N-Out Burger in Twin Falls, Idaho on Saturday. This action forced the attacker to retreat, according to eyewitness accounts.

Lane Koehn, an observer, recounted to the Associated Press that he witnessed a man carrying a rifle appear near the drive-thru area. In response, another individual drew a handgun and fired at the assailant. Koehn elaborated that this man stayed at the scene to attend to an injured employee of the restaurant until paramedics were on the scene.

Koehn described the man with the handgun to the New York Times as “an older gentleman,” noting that his actions seemed to push the young shooter into taking cover.

The shooting resulted in the deaths of three people and injuries to at least seven others. Authorities confirmed that the suspect was later discovered deceased. The investigation into the motive for the attack is ongoing.
