Nurses in the United States are incorporating artificial intelligence (AI) into their daily work routines more than ever before. A recent survey, which included over 2,200 nurses, revealed that 44 percent now use AI at work. This marks a substantial increase from 15 percent in the previous year.

Despite the growing adoption of AI, more than 80 percent of the surveyed nurses expressed concerns about its accuracy. They reported that the technology isn’t reliable enough to depend on without verification. These findings highlight the cautious approach that healthcare professionals are taking towards new technologies.

For example, Bojana Milekic from Mount Sinai hospital demonstrated in June 2023 how an AI program identified the patients at the highest risk. This use of AI aims to enhance patient care, but the need for human oversight continues to be a significant factor in its implementation.
