Tony D’Angelo faced a significant challenge at Heatwave, defending the NXT Championship against Grayson Waller, Cruz Montana, and Zilla Fatu. This four-way match created a difficult situation for D’Angelo, as he could potentially lose the title without being pinned. Each contender was eager to rise in the men’s division.
Both Montana and Fatu entered the match with unique prospects. Montana transitioned from Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) and aimed to make an impact. Fatu, in his singles debut, added to the excitement. Waller looked to regain his former status in NXT.
The battle was intense with each competitor seeking victory. Fatu executed a fierce flying Samoan Spike on D’Angelo and nearly pinned him. Yet, Waller intervened by pulling the referee from the ring, extending the match’s duration.
