Graham Rahal Gears Up for Freedom Grand Prix 250 in D.C.

Graham Rahal will join about two dozen drivers racing through Washington, D.C., at the Freedom Grand Prix 250 this Sunday. This race coincides with the U.S. celebrating its 250th anniversary.

Rahal shared his thoughts during the IndyCar Grand Prix Media Preview held on Thursday. He noted the significance of racing in the nation’s capital, right near Capitol Hill and along Pennsylvania Avenue. For him, these locations are more than iconic; they are symbols of American heritage.

“As an American, this is an iconic moment,” Rahal said. “This sport has a very international feel, especially in IndyCar racing. But racing in D.C., with the red, white, and blue on the car, in front of friends and veterans we have supported, means a lot.”

Rahal is eager to take on the track. Speaking after qualifying for an earlier race, he expressed excitement about seeing the whole course. The opportunity to compete for this trophy adds to his anticipation.

The excitement begins on Saturday, with IndyCar’s first practice session at 9 a.m. ET, followed by a second at 1 p.m. ET, and qualifying at 5 p.m. The initial practice will be live on FS1, while later events air on FS2.

Final preparations are underway for the race, visible along Pennsylvania Avenue. On race day, drivers warm-up at 9 a.m. ET, visible on FS1. The main event starts with the green flag at 1 p.m., broadcasted on FOX.
