Former NFL Running Back Miles Sanders Arrested on DUI Charges

Miles Sanders, the former NFL running back, was arrested on DUI charges in June while driving through Churchill Borough, Pennsylvania. Court records confirm the incident.

Sanders, who has not played since his time with the Dallas Cowboys in 2025, faced legal issues including driving an unregistered vehicle and illegal parking in areas with prohibitory signs. These charges were resolved with Sanders pleading guilty, as reviewed by OutKick. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for September 23 regarding his charges of careless driving and driving under the influence.

A criminal complaint obtained by CBS News indicated that Sanders was discovered in his Lexus, slumped over the driver’s seat in the middle of William Penn Highway. Officers attempted to wake him, but he struggled to respond to inquiries. According to CBS News, Sanders appeared lethargic and his consciousness fluctuated. He had admitted to drinking earlier; his breath was noted to have a scent of alcohol and his eyes were glossy. Marijuana was reportedly found in the vehicle, and Sanders tested positive for alcohol on a portable breath test.

Miles Sanders, originally from Pittsburgh, had built his college career playing football at Penn State. He was picked by the Philadelphia Eagles during the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft.

Sanders’ professional run began with the Eagles for four seasons before transitioning via a four-year contract worth $25 million with the Carolina Panthers. However, he was let go halfway due to injury struggles and performance issues. Sanders later secured a one-year contract with the Cowboys but appeared in only four games due to severe knee and ankle injuries, leading to his current status as a free agent.

Throughout his NFL career, Sanders participated in 88 games, achieving 4,462 yards and 24 rushing touchdowns. He also made 183 catches for 1,274 yards and four receiving touchdowns. His standout season was 2022 when he earned Pro Bowl recognition by rushing for 1,269 yards and 11 touchdowns.
