Food Safety Alert Issued Over Alfalfa Sprouts Contamination

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has released a food safety alert regarding potentially contaminated alfalfa sprouts. Authorities advise consumers to avoid these sprouts to prevent illness.

The alert highlights a concerning situation where 55 individuals across 15 states have reported illnesses linked to salmonella or E. coli. Minnesota and Wisconsin have seen the most significant impact, with the majority of cases occurring there.

Out of the affected individuals, four have required hospitalization due to the severity of their symptoms. This incident underscores the importance of monitoring food safety and promptly addressing outbreaks to safeguard public health.
