Authorities arrested four individuals after a large gathering of vehicles blocked all northbound lanes on Interstate 75 in Hillsborough County, Florida. The incident occurred early Saturday and led to a high-speed chase reaching 140 mph.

Incident Details

The event unfolded around 1:30 a.m. near mile marker 266 in Thonotosassa. Florida Highway Patrol traffic cameras captured a scene where a large number of vehicles stopped traffic, with some drivers executing burnouts in the middle of the interstate.

When troopers arrived, video footage showed the vehicles quickly dispersing. While most attendees left without facing charges, one green BMW fled, prompting a trooper to initiate a pursuit.

Pursuit and Arrests

The BMW, allegedly speeding up to 140 mph — roughly twice the legal limit — exited the interstate and stopped in a parking lot. Yulian Lugo, age 25, identified as the driver, was arrested. He faces charges of aggravated fleeing to elude and participating in a street takeover, both felonies.

Three passengers in the BMW, one aged 24 and two aged 18, were also detained and charged with misdemeanor highway racing. All four individuals were booked into the Hillsborough County Jail.
