A 23-year-old Florida man, George Beemer, faces serious charges following the alleged murder of his mother and setting her body on fire. According to an arrest report, Beemer shot his mother due to years of accumulated anger. He then set the body aflame, referencing her expressed wish to be cremated.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office detailed the charges as second-degree murder, first-degree arson, and abuse of a human body. The office shared this information via Facebook following Beemer’s arrest on Saturday.

On the day of the incident, Beemer placed a 911 call from his Fort Myers residence, citing chest pain. He received prompt medical attention at a hospital.

However, while Beemer was en route to the hospital, a second 911 call alerted authorities to a fire at his home. Firefighters responded swiftly, extinguishing the flames and discovering the deceased body of Beemer’s mother, who had suffered extensive burns.

Detectives, along with Crime Scene investigators and fire service partners, suspected foul play. Sheriff Carmine Marceno commended their thorough work, leading to an expedited arrest.

Reports from WINK News reveal that Beemer confessed to the crime, citing built-up anger. He admitted to shooting his mother once before pouring gasoline over her body and igniting the fire.

Beemer alleged that his mother had mistreated him for years, accusing her of molestation. However, a friend disputed these claims, asserting their falsehood.

“There’s absolutely no way,” the friend told WINK News. “No, no, absolutely never. He’s using it as a defense mechanism,” the friend insisted.

A former classmate, Madison Edwards, expressed shock upon learning of the arrest. “I wasn’t surprised that he ended up in jail. The reason was what shocked me,” Edwards shared.

Currently, Beemer is detained at the Lee County Jail. The investigation is ongoing. Sheriff Marceno offered condolences and emphasized the commitment to uncovering the full truth.
