Florida Man Arrested for Allegedly Killing Family Kittens

A father in Florida faced arrest this week on charges related to the alleged killing of family kittens. Authorities say these acts were committed in front of his teenage daughter as a form of punishment.

Bodycam footage from the Lee County Sheriff’s Office reveals deputies responding to a residence in Pine Manor. They were alerted to a man attempting to harm a two-month-old kitten named Luna.

David Charette Jr., 48, is charged with aggravated animal cruelty. Officials accuse him of killing two kittens and injuring another.

Witnesses told deputies Charette allegedly abused the kittens to punish his daughter when she misbehaved. This disturbing behavior drew swift attention from law enforcement.

In the footage, Charette defends his actions concerning Luna. He mentions needing to clean the kitten because it had soiled itself.

Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno highlighted the disturbing nature of these allegations, especially as they involve Charette’s daughter.

The sheriff stated, “A daughter says that when she acts up, her father kills her kittens.” This disclosure amplifies the gravity of the situation.

Further investigations revealed Charette allegedly killed two other kittens in the past year. In June, he reportedly smothered a one-month-old kitten with a bleach-soaked rag. In another incident, a three-month-old kitten suffered fatal harm via a blow-dryer.

Official reports noted these kittens were buried in the backyard, but authorities recovered only one kitten during a property search.

Luna received treatment at a local animal hospital and is recovering.
