Florida’s political scene saw a significant event when Democratic Socialists of America member Angie Nixon won a primary by 12 points. This victory was a surprise to the Democratic establishment in the state. Representative Jared Moskowitz shared insights into his own successful primary campaign against a far-left competitor.
Moskowitz responded to Senator Rick Scott’s remarks, where Scott claimed that moderate Democrats are scared of the party’s progressive section. Scott, a Florida Republican, suggested that Moskowitz would follow directions from far-left streamer Hasan Piker if re-elected.
“Rick doesn’t know what he’s talking about,” Moskowitz stated on Fox & Friends. “Nobody in my district believes that I’m a Hasan Piker guy. Hasan would want nothing to do with me. I want nothing to do with Hasan.”
Scott made his statements on a FOX Business segment, arguing that the winner of the Democratic primary would align with Piker’s interests. Moskowitz was portrayed as a centrist Democrat, advocating for Israel and critiquing his party’s progressive elements, including Piker.
Following his victory over DSA-backed Oliver Larkin, Moskowitz publicly mocked Piker through social media. Piker replied, criticizing Moskowitz’s priorities and stance on Israel.
Despite his triumph, Moskowitz remains critical of the DSA agenda and candidates, labeling them as “anti-American.” He emphasized that Democratic leadership should express opposition to the DSA’s policies.
Moskowitz highlighted a populist economic trend within the DSA that mainstream Democrats must address. He stressed the importance of recognizing and discussing the financial struggles of many Americans.
