FBI Thwarts Threat to UFC Freedom 250 Event at White House

The FBI has successfully prevented an alleged threat targeting the UFC Freedom 250 event scheduled at the White House. FBI Director Kash Patel announced on Tuesday that a multi-state operation was commenced when potential threats were identified on June 10. He confirmed on X that numerous individuals are in custody, and any planned attacks have been averted.

According to Fox News Digital, which cited anonymous sources, five individuals have been detained while a total of 23 have been linked as part of a group of conspirators. The reported plan involved explosive-laden drones aimed at buildings close to the event site. Additionally, there were intentions to breach the White House gate.

The event was attended by President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump, along with other members of the Trump family. High-profile attendees included Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, and prominent business figures such as UFC CEO Dana White and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

Patel detailed on X: “On June 10, our team identified a potential threat to the UFC America 250 event in Washington, D.C., involving individuals from outside the National Capital Region. Through swift action in collaboration with the Department of Justice and other partners, multiple individuals were apprehended, and potential attacks were neutralized.”

He further commented: “This is demonstrative of exceptional investigative work, yet it is routine for our law enforcement teams who are dedicated to protecting American citizens, especially during major events like UFC 250. We will continue our work and provide updates as we can.”

When contacted for additional remarks, an FBI spokesperson referred Newsweek to Patel’s statement, mentioning no further information was available at the time.

This is a developing story; updates will follow as more information becomes available.
