Named the Kinetic Cyber Range, this 22,000-square-foot facility at the FBI’s Huntsville campus is designed to look like a small American community. It includes residential homes, a hotel, a gas station, a grocery store, a courthouse, a hospital, and a power company.
The Kinetic Cyber Range connects every building to operational networks and devices that mimic real systems. Over 200 servers running Windows and Linux are housed in the facility, replicating typical corporate IT setups.

The FBI aims to enhance cyber training by moving beyond theoretical exercises into realistic and stressful situations. Traditionally, cyber investigators used simulated data for training.
