Family of NFL Quarterback Faces Online Harassment

The family of Tennessee Titans quarterback Cam Ward is experiencing threats and bullying from online sources. His sister, Chantel Ward, shared that they are targets due to her brother’s underperformance as the Titans’ 2025 first-round Draft pick.

Following the Titans’ recent 12-7 loss to the New York Giants, Chantel expressed her frustration on Instagram. She highlighted the criticisms aimed at her family, saying, “The fact I even have to post this is diabolical.”

“People see the football games. They see the wins, the losses, the interceptions, the touchdowns, the press conferences and everything that happens on the field. What they don’t see is what comes with it for the people who love these players when the game is over.”

While families of first-round draftees like Ward may enjoy a privileged life, Chantel explained the challenges they face, emphasizing the online threats they receive.

“After games, people come directly to my DMs on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram with threats, hate, bullying, personal attacks, and disrespect toward me and my family – all over football,” Chantel wrote.

Chantel acknowledged that player criticism is part of sports. “Criticize the game,” she stated. “Criticize a play. Be frustrated with your team. That’s sports, and I completely understand that. But seeking out a player’s sister, parents, or other family members to personally attack them because you’re upset about what happened on a football field is something completely different.”

She spoke of Cam not just as an athlete but as her younger brother, someone she cherishes. When messages become personal, Chantel struggles with how to remain unaffected. She shared a screenshot of an offensive message she received but did not provide evidence of explicit threats.

Chantel urged others to criticize her brother’s performance but draw a line at family harassment. If necessary, the family should consider reporting these threats to authorities and potentially engage with the Titans for support.
