Chicago’s summer season brings an abundance of festivals, each offering unique experiences from block parties to major concerts. Every weekend, the city showcases its diverse culinary and beverage culture through events that highlight local favorites like tacos, burgers, and craft beers.

The Loop and Near North Side

The Chicago Gourmet festival, organized by the Illinois Restaurant Association, marks a key event. Beginning on September 24, attendees can indulge in tacos crafted by local chefs, complemented by cocktails and agave spirits. The festival continues with a burger feast on September 25 and concludes with a grand cru wine tasting and brunch on September 26 at the Harris Theater Rooftop.

The Great American Lobster Fest offers a taste of Maine with options like whole lobster meals or a la carte selections including lobster rolls and bisque. The event takes place at Navy Pier over two days, starting September 5.

Large-Scale Celebrations

This year’s Taste of Chicago event spans five days, featuring 84 vendors and live music. The lineup includes popular names like Lexington Betty Smokehouse and Seoul Taco, making it a must-visit for food enthusiasts. Scheduled from July 8-12 at Grant Park, this festival is free of charge.

Neighborhood Highlights

Taste of River North offers a mix of downtown restaurant samplings, wine tastings, and family-friendly activities. Set for July 17-18, the event promises a vibrant atmosphere on North Wells Street.

On the North Side, don’t miss the inaugural Chicago Italian Beef Fest at Jefferson Memorial Park from July 31 to August 2, showcasing creative takes on a Windy City classic.

The Chicago Taco & Tequila Fest at Wrightwood Park delivers a mix of local tacos and tequila tastings from June 26-28.

The Flavors of Albany Park event offers a restaurant crawl with choices from over 60 establishments. Scheduled for June 24, it allows participants to explore diverse neighborhood flavors.

Horner BrewFest provides an evening of sampling beer and cider from more than 35 regional breweries at Horner Park. Live music creates a lively backdrop on July 17.

The Ravenswood on Tap festival showcases unique tappings and cocktails within the Malt Row brewing district. Featured on July 18-19, this event includes live music and games.

Hosting over Labor Day weekend, Taste of Polonia offers a deep dive into Polish cuisine and culture with performances and kids’ activities.

WingOut Chicago brings vendors like Smoke Daddy to offer diverse chicken wings while hosted at Gallagher Way from September 26-27.

The Tacos Y Tamales Festival promises authentic Latin American dishes, beverages, and live performances from July 17-19.
