Emmy Awards 2026 Highlight Achievements in TV

The Emmy Awards ceremony took place on Monday night, hosted by Mariska Hargitay, known for her role in Law & Order: SVU. Viewers could tune in on NBC and Peacock at 8 p.m. PT or 5 p.m. ET.

Drama and Comedy Nominations

Last year’s winner for Best Drama, The Pitt, was nominated again this year, facing competition from shows like Pluribus, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, and The Diplomat. In the comedy sphere, two new shows on Apple TV, Widow’s Bay and Margo’s Got Money Troubles, entered the scene. They joined returning favorites such as Hacks, up for its fifth and final season, and The Bear, nominated for its fourth season. Eligible programs aired between June 2025 and May 2026.

Special Performance

Noah Kahan performed “Bridge Over Troubled Water” during the In Memoriam segment, offering a poignant moment in the ceremony.

  • Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie: Matthew Rhys for The Beast In Me
  • Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series: Jean Smart for Hacks
  • Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series: Kate O’Flynn for Widow’s Bay

In the comedy series categories, competitors included Abbott Elementary, The Bear, and returning nominees like Nobody Wants This and Hacks.

Comedy Categories

Yahya Abdul-Mateen II was among the nominees for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for Wonder Man, along with actors like Steve Carell and Matthew Rhys.

Other supporting actor nominations included Colman Domingo from The Four Seasons and Paul W. Downs from Hacks.

Directing and Writing in Comedy

The nominees for outstanding directing in a comedy series featured Randall Einhorn for Abbott Elementary and Christopher Storer for The Bear. Writing nominees included Quinta Brunson for Abbott Elementary and Tim Robinson, Zach Kanin for The Chair Company.

Drama Series and Actors

Outstanding Drama Series: The Diplomat, The Gilded Age, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, among others.

Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series: Sterling K. Brown for Paradise, along with Gary Oldman and Mark Ruffalo as nominees.

Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series: Nominees included Carrie Coon for The Gilded Age and Zendaya for Euphoria.

Supporting Roles in Drama

  • Outstanding Supporting Actor: Patrick Ball for The Pitt and others from Slow Horses and The Morning Show.
  • Outstanding Supporting Actress: Taylor Dearden and Fiona Dourif for The Pitt.

Outstanding Direction and Writing in Drama

Salli Richardson-Whitfield was nominated for directing The Gilded Age, and Vince Gilligan was recognized for writing Pluribus.

Limited Series and Reality Programs

  • Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series: All Her Fault and The Beast In Me.
  • Outstanding Supporting Actress: Linda Cardellini, DTF St. Louis.
  • Outstanding Supporting Actor: David Harbour, DTF St. Louis.

In reality competitions, Dancing With the Stars and RuPaul’s Drag Race were among the prominent contenders. Meanwhile, variety series nominations included respected shows like The Daily Show and Last Week Tonight With John Oliver.
