Emeka Egbuka’s Injury Concerns Arise During Buccaneers Practice

Tampa Bay Buccaneers second-year receiver Emeka Egbuka exited practice early on Wednesday and did not return. The specific nature and seriousness of his injury remain uncertain, although Egbuka managed to leave the field on his own.

According to NFL Network reporter Mike Garafolo, Egbuka was seen limping off alongside athletic trainers. He was then examined on the sideline table, but details on the incident were limited. Garafolo noted, “Buccaneers WR Emeka Egbuka limped off with athletic trainers. Was examined on the sideline table for a while. Hard to see exactly what’s up from where we are but he’s still on the table and hasn’t returned.”

Later, Garafolo observed Egbuka with his cleats removed, returning to the sideline to watch the remainder of practice. This development raises questions about Egbuka’s availability in the coming days.

In his rookie year, Egbuka, the No. 19 overall draft pick, showed exceptional performance. As a standout from Ohio State, he emerged as an essential target for quarterback Baker Mayfield, recording 63 receptions for 938 yards and six touchdowns during the entire 17-game regular season schedule.

The potential expanded role for Egbuka in the upcoming season is anticipated, especially after veteran receiver Mike Evans left the team during the offseason. His ability to fill the gap left by Evans is a focus for fans and coaches alike.

The Buccaneers are set to kick off their 2026 regular season on September 13 with a Week 1 game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Emeka Egbuka’s situation will be closely monitored as the date approaches.
