Dolly Parton’s Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame Vandalized After Her Passing

Dolly Parton’s Hollywood Walk of Fame star was vandalized with multiple scratches shortly after the country music icon was laid to rest.

A fan visiting the star reported the damage on social media. A photo shared online showed visible scratches on the star.

In response, Ana Martinez, producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, confirmed the vandalism. “A fan went to the star yesterday and reported on social that the star was vandalized with many scratches. From the photo she posted, it does appear the star was vandalized with scratches,” Martinez stated.

Flowers that were placed at Parton’s star had been removed for a scheduled repair that was arranged last week. Martinez mentioned that the first part of the repairs was completed, with ongoing work handled by the Hollywood Historic Trust, the organization responsible for maintaining and repairing Walk of Fame stars.

The repair is expected to be finished and polished by Friday, allowing fans to visit the star to pay their respects to the late singer.

Parton passed away on August 25 after a brief battle with cancer at age 80. She died peacefully in Nashville, Tennessee, surrounded by loved ones at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center.

“Parton died on Aug. 25 after battling cancer,” a statement confirmed.

Lainey Mae Parton, Dolly Parton’s niece, shared a heartfelt tribute on Instagram after her grandmother’s burial, highlighting the country legend’s unconditional love and encouragement throughout her life.

“From the time I was little, my granny always had a way of making me feel like I was enough. She never made my dreams feel too big or made me feel like I couldn’t do something. She believed in me before I even knew how to believe in myself,” Lainey Mae wrote.

She recalled Parton’s support for her choice to pursue beauty school instead of college, both emotionally and financially.

Lainey Mae expressed how she would miss Parton’s voice, laughter, hugs, and even early morning phone calls.

“It still doesn’t feel real that she’s gone,” Lainey Mae noted. “I’m going to miss her voice, her laugh, her hugs, and just knowing she was there. I’m even going to miss those 4 AM calls, and I’d give anything to see her name pop up on my phone again.”

Dolly Parton’s career spanned decades with hit songs like “Jolene,” “Coat of Many Colors,” “9 to 5,” and “I Will Always Love You.” She also had notable roles in films such as “9 to 5,” “The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas,” “Steel Magnolias,” and “Joyful Noise.”

Aside from her achievements in music and film, Parton was known for her philanthropy. Her Imagination Library initiative has provided hundreds of millions of books to children worldwide.

Lainey Mae concluded, “I feel incredibly lucky that I got to call her my granny. Thank you for always believing in me, loving me, and making me feel like I could do anything. I love you, Granny. Always.”
