In the National League Division Series (NLDS) Game 3, the Los Angeles Dodgers lead the Atlanta Braves, with play currently in the fifth inning. The series is tied, and both teams are battling intensely at Truist Park.

Game Overview

The Dodgers took an early lead with Kiké Hernández and Freddie Freeman smashing home runs. Hernández hit a two-run homer in the fourth inning, marking his 17th career postseason home run. Following him, Freeman also hit one out of the park, a solo homer reaching 399 feet, increasing their lead to 3-0. This powerful performance contributed to the team’s total of 10 runs in the series, all from home runs.

Starting pitchers Yoshinobu Yamamoto for the Dodgers and Chris Sale for the Braves both showed strong performances initially. Sale, however, allowed three earned runs over 80 pitches with six strikeouts. Yamamoto, on the other hand, kept the Braves at bay with minimal hits and multiple strikeouts.

Highlights and Key Plays

In a memorable play, Braves left fielder Mauricio Dubón stole a home run from Freddie Freeman with a stunning catch near the bullpen. Mookie Betts and Will Smith contributed with singles, but the Dodgers left several runners stranded. In contrast, Atlanta struggled to capitalize on their opportunities, with Dodgers’ pitcher Yamamoto shutting down key batters such as Ronald Acuña Jr. and Austin Riley.

Overall, Sale faced challenges early on with multiple hits allowed but managed to strike out several key Dodgers. Meanwhile, Yamamoto displayed efficiency and control, maintaining a scoreless game through three innings.

Team Strategies and Future Games

Looking forward, the Dodgers aim to reduce their reliance on home runs. This strategy adjustment became apparent as they managed the Braves’ strong defensive plays. Both teams recognize the importance of tactical hits and patience at the plate in the coming games.
