Democrats Ask Kamala Harris to Avoid Midterm Campaigns

News Report: MS NOW’s Peter Alexander recently questioned former Vice President Kamala Harris about reports that red state Democrats prefer her absence in their midterm campaigns.

Peter Alexander showed Harris a headline from Politico that read, “Kamala Harris is wading into the midterms. Red state Dems want her to stay away,” and asked for her response.

Harris responded, “Listen, Peter, we need to win, okay? Bottom line, we need to win. I have run locally, I’ve run for statewide office, and obviously nationally. And these candidates know what they need to do to win and I would expect nothing less. I look forward to being on the trail and helping folks where I can be helpful, but we have got to put a check on this lawless administration and deliver what Americans need and deserve. Lower costs, affordable healthcare, affordable childcare, you name it. So I support them doing whatever they need to do to win.”

In Iowa, Democratic gubernatorial candidates express unwillingness to have President Biden or Harris campaign for them. Harris, when asked about a presidential run in 2028, emphasized focusing on the 2026 elections.

Politico reports that Iowa’s key Democrats have rejected Harris’s campaign efforts. In Alaska, the Democratic Senate nominee declined a fundraising appeal Harris sent. Wisconsin’s swing-district Democrat and a Senate hopeful in Kansas have requested Harris’s distance.

Rebecca Cooke, a Democratic candidate in Wisconsin, claimed she gained 9,000 more votes than Harris in 2024 and does not need external campaign support.

Democrats aim to contest 12 additional red districts in the midterm push to regain control of the House. However, Harris remains a contentious figure in the party.

Democratic consultant Julian Epstein noted the division within the party. He criticized postmodern Democrats’ lack of self-awareness, especially regarding necessary swing voters. He described moderate Democrats’ reluctance to involve Harris due to her perceived inability to address difficult questions and her extreme political stance.

Elizabeth Pipko, former RNC National Spokesperson, pointed to Harris’s unpopular record as a sign of weak leadership within the party. She remarked on Harris’s limited appeal and noted that her attempts to run for presidency have been dismissed by voters previously.

Harris’s history includes dropping out of the 2020 Democratic primary before voting began and being picked as vice president by Biden in 2020. Pipko highlighted the Democrats’ general avoidance of Harris despite her potential leadership given Biden’s age and health.
