South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster appointed her; this decision aligned with a recommendation from President Donald Trump. Senator Tim Scott supported her appointment, attending the ceremony in Columbia, South Carolina.
“Lindsey took care of his little sister in years long departed,” McMaster remarked, emphasizing Darline’s role in concluding Lindsey’s term.
She will serve as a caretaker, completing her brother’s term until January, when a new senator will be elected.
Upcoming Election and Political Maneuvering
The race to replace Lindsey Graham’s Senate seat is underway. Representatives Nancy Mace and Ralph Norman have shown interest in the GOP nomination. The special election is set for August 11.
