Criticism of Jill Biden by Stephen A. Smith on Debate Remarks

Stephen A. Smith, known for his role as a sports commentator, voiced criticism of former First Lady Jill Biden during an episode of his podcast. He accused her and the Democratic Party of actions that could harm their political standing.

On his podcast, “Straight Shooter,” Smith discussed Jill Biden’s recent memoir, “View From the East Wing.” He noted her initial public support for former President Joe Biden’s health during the 2024 campaign. However, in her book, she admitted concerns during a debate with President Donald Trump, suggesting she thought Biden might be having a stroke.

“You had commentators literally say on national television, he looked like an elderly patient in a nursing home waiting for his applesauce to be fed to him,” Smith remarked on the podcast. He questioned Jill Biden’s previous positive statements about her husband’s debate performance.

Smith continued to criticize the timing of her admission, especially given its proximity to midterm elections. “With gubernatorial and mayoral races approaching, plus the midterms, confessing to deceit won’t help the Democrats win,” he warned.

Smith stressed his intention was not against Democrats but rather to advise them. “I’m being pro-Democrat,” he emphasized, cautioning that such issues give Republicans more confidence, even in traditional strongholds like California.

Jill Biden’s memoir reveals both she and Joe Biden were aware of his poor debate performance, despite her public praise at the time. She expressed her fear that he might have had a stroke during the event.
