Courtney Love has shared details about a health issue she kept private for years. The singer, known for her work with Hole, revealed she faced significant health challenges while working on her latest album.
In an Instagram video, Love, 62, explained that she began experiencing severe health problems during a trip to England in 2019. ‘My body just exploded,’ she said. Love was frequently hospitalized, dropped to 100 pounds, and doctors once told her she might not survive. She described losing her hair and being at a low point both physically and mentally.
Although Love did not specify the illness she was dealing with, she noted her resistance to accepting the dire prognosis. Reflecting on childhood memories, Love shared, ‘I never really lost my ability to see that… red was red. Despite them telling me that red was blue. And so, when they said ‘you’re going to die,’ I just didn’t believe them. Somehow, I got better.’
Love stated that she has since recovered and prefers privacy regarding her former illness. She described her new album, created during this difficult time, as a reflection of her resilience and creativity.
Despite her health struggles, Love used her time effectively to focus on writing and recording. ‘When I made it, I believed this was my last record, so I made the record I always wanted to make,’ she noted in her video caption.
Love expressed gratitude to those who supported her throughout her journey, acknowledging the traumatic experience but noting her desire to return to performing. The album will mark her first release since Hole’s 2010 album, ‘Nobody’s Daughter.’
As Love gears up for her return to the public eye, she asks her fans for patience and support.
