Controversial Reactions Emerge After Tragic NYC Stabbing

German-Palestinian-American filmmaker Lexi Alexander stirred controversy with her social media post about the death of Bank of America executive Erin Piacenti. Alexander referenced Luigi Mangione, who was accused of killing UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, in a post that seemed to support the acts of violence.

Piacenti was fatally stabbed on Monday in New York City’s Times Square, during an attack where another individual was also injured. The suspect was shot by police and killed on the scene. This attack occurred as Piacenti rejoined her position at Bank of America after a five-month leave to care for her newborn daughter.

Alexander, known for directing “Green Street Hooligans” and “Punisher: War Zone,” shared a news headline about the incident alongside an image referencing Mangione. Her post was marked as “sensitive content” but remains available on her account.

In her online responses, Alexander dismissed criticisms, pointing to what she described as “hasbara,” suggesting ties to Israeli public relation efforts. She linked this to an article about Bank of America’s past support for Israel. In another instance, she retweeted a post from a woman who expressed indifference towards Piacenti’s death, highlighting threats she received.

“They released the hasbara bot farm just like the first time when we asked people to boycott BofA. Israel doesn’t care about the woman who got killed, they care about the positive rating BofA gave them in the middle of a genocide. There is huge money at stake,” Alexander stated.

Journalist Douglas Murray commented on this trend, noting that certain Americans, particularly those on the far left, were justifying recent violent acts, referencing past incidents such as the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in 2024 and the subsequent controversial discourse.

Murray questioned the moral grounds of those defending violent acts, stressing the importance of addressing why some politicians have condoned violence.

Authorities continue to investigate the motive behind the stabbing, with the suspect reportedly having a history of mental illness. Fox News has reached out to Alexander for comments.
