An Arizona doughnut shop experienced a revival thanks to the support of its community, as reported by FOX 10 Phoenix. Daniel Tes, the owner of The Local Donut in Scottsdale, Arizona, faced significant challenges this summer that threatened the decade-old business.

Although ten years is a commendable achievement, the recent months proved particularly difficult for the shop. Tes admitted, “A lot of small businesses deal with it, but this year was different.” The struggle intensified after spring training, as preparations for summer led to financial strain. “Last week was probably our worst. We couldn’t make payroll,” Tes explained.

Faced with the possibility of closing, Tes made a heartfelt plea on social media, seeking assistance from the community and divine support. The next day, his efforts bore fruit. The shop was bustling with customers, and Tes witnessed a wave of support from locals. Not only did individuals flock to the shop, but other local businesses also joined in by prepaying for customers in a showing of camaraderie.

“There’s a lot of selfless people out there, a lot of generous people,” Tes noted, expressing his gratitude for the unexpected support.

Regular customers were relieved that their favorite shop was saved from closure. One loyal patron, Harris Dozier, shared, “They’ve got a lot of great options as well as super friendly people, so it’s a great time to come in here real quick for a doughnut.”

Thanks to the community’s generosity, The Local Donut managed to stay open. Tes expressed a strong desire to continue serving doughnuts and give back to those who helped him in his time of need. “People are there to help out, and I definitely want to pay it forward as well,” he said.
