Family and friends are mourning the loss of 18-year-old Bella Fanuele, who tragically fell to her death from a bridge support structure at Big Bear Dam. This area is reportedly a popular spot for local teenagers. Bella, a recent high school graduate and aspiring baker, was identified through a GoFundMe page established in her memory.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call on Tuesday around 11 p.m. regarding the incident. Deputies stated in a news release that Bella fell from the top of a support structure below Highway 18. Rescue workers from the Big Bear Fire Department descended the hill to locate her. Despite performing lifesaving measures, Bella was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Authorities have stated that early investigation results show no signs of suspicious circumstances surrounding Bella’s death.
On Wednesday, Bella’s friends gathered at the site to leave flowers and create a makeshift memorial in her honor. Local residents mentioned the area is a frequent gathering place for youth.
The GoFundMe organizer highlighted Bella’s aspirations to start college and open a bakery. Her family hopes to fulfill this dream posthumously by creating a bakery in her name, as a tribute to her aspirations.
