Though John Cena’s in-ring career might have concluded, his presence persists in virtual arenas, particularly with WWE star Cody Rhodes. Both are part of a second collaboration with the popular mobile game, Clash of Clans. Rhodes, along with other WWE stars, are engaged in a game event where they must locate Cena’s base.
The event, known as the “Search for Cena,” will be active until September 30. During an interview with OutKick Dropkick, Rhodes expressed enthusiasm about the event. “We’ve got millions of players on Clash of Clans globally. Global chat connects us all,” he said. Reflecting on his gaming journey, Rhodes recalled his entry into Clash of Clans during a WWE tour with Cena.
“John Cena on the road…finding a game to bond over—it was Clash,” Rhodes reminisced. “He led the O’Leary Klan (OLK), showing good leadership until he exhibited some tyrannical behavior.”
The current event offers players the chance to raid Cena’s base, invoking a sense of camaraderie among the Clash of Clans community. Rhodes described how satisfying it is to see new elements like the ‘Barbarian King’ skin in the game, making the event incredibly engaging for fans.
Rhodes shared his history with Cena, stating that Cena first got him into the game, and they were initially part of the same clan. After some disagreements, they started the Nicky Clan, which endures today.
Cena, in a press release, commented, “This rivalry with Cody didn’t start in the ring—it began when I out-raided him in the game.”
Rhodes finds it surreal to be a featured character in a game he enjoys, differing from the typical appearance in wrestling video games. His character, “Barbarian King,” debuted last year and exemplifies his enthusiasm for Clash of Clans.
This collaboration extends beyond Rhodes. Other WWE superstars appear in the game with unique roles. For example, Alexa Bliss features as the “Archer Queen,” The Undertaker as the “Grand Warden,” Iyo Sky as the “Royal Champion,” Jey Uso as the “Minion Prince,” and Kane as the “Dragon Duke.”
Clash of Clans has surpassed two billion downloads, ranking among the top mobile games ever created. The synergy between WWE and Clash of Clans fosters unique connections among fans and players alike.
