Chicago Sky guard Natasha Cloud shared a strong message in support of the transgender community following a tense moment with Enes Kanter Freedom during a game against the Indiana Fever. The incident happened in the third quarter when Cloud scored, prompting the Fever to call a timeout. Her emotions were directed towards Freedom, present near the basket at Wintrust Arena. As Freedom moved towards Cloud, players and security intervened.
Cloud did not participate in the team’s postgame media session. However, she expressed her stance through social media. On Threads, she wrote, “To every trans kid/person, You are apart of MY community & tribe. You belong. You’re loved. You’re seen. You’re perfect as you are. & you will always be protected by me.”
Freedom was escorted out and did not return to the game. His departure came after players and coaches voiced concerns over trans athletes in women’s sports. Freedom declared his ambitions of joining the WNBA, and at the game, he wore a shirt highlighting a traditional definition of a woman.
Woman – adult human female.
Freedom faced backlash from WNBA fans as he entered the arena. In response, he shared his views online, stating, “I just got kicked out of a @WNBA game for supporting WOMEN! Let that sink in, AMERICA!”
