Law enforcement responded to an incident involving Perez Hilton in Miami after reports of self-harm during a TikTok livestream. The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office confirmed they received several calls about the livestream. Deputies located Hilton’s residence, spoke with his family, and confirmed his solitary presence inside.
In cases of mental health crises, deputies focus on de-escalation. They create time and distance to enable communication. This approach minimizes the risk of a suicide-by-cop scenario and reduces potential injuries to all involved.
“Deputies have tactically disengaged while continuing to monitor the situation and providing the needed support to his family,” a spokesperson stated.
A source informed Fox News Digital that Hilton was placed under psychiatric hold under the Baker Act. He had superficial cuts over his body. The Baker Act allows involuntary psychiatric evaluation if legal criteria are met. Evaluations often last up to 72 hours.
Perez Hilton’s representative has not commented. Earlier this year, the blogger was hospitalized for severe sepsis and infections.
Hilton, Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr., known for his celebrity gossip website since 2004, gained internet fame with unfiltered commentary and breaking celebrity news. His move to Miami included his mother and three children. Hilton’s experiences as a parent have influenced his priorities, sharing family glimpses on social media.
This year, Hilton spent 21 days hospitalized due to sepsis from flu complications. He experienced stomach issues that required emergency surgery and extensive treatment. During this time, Hilton shared a video discussing his changed perspective.
“God presented himself to me and did something miraculous… this has been life-changing,” he said.
He expressed regret for past mistakes. Hilton publicly apologized, mentioning his deep shame and pledge to improve.
“My mistakes are very public. The internet is forever. Receipts are forever. I carry deep shame and regret,” he announced.
Hilton acknowledged his previous selfish motives, seeking views and fame.
In recent weeks, Hilton affirmed his belief in God despite receiving criticism.
“You don’t have to watch these videos… I love God. My experience was real,” Hilton declared.
He emphasized future actions as central to his personal growth. “What matters is today. How I behave today, how I behave tomorrow,” he stated. Hilton believes his faith has offered him a new chance at life.
