CeeDee Lamb Shines in Dallas Cowboys Win Against Washington Commanders

The Dallas Cowboys secured their first victory of the season with a 37-20 win over the Washington Commanders on Sunday. CeeDee Lamb’s exceptional performance played a crucial role in the triumph.

Lamb, recognized as a five-time Pro Bowler and two-time All-Pro, overpowered the Commanders’ defense. At 27, the wide receiver achieved remarkable stats, securing eight receptions for 153 yards and two touchdowns, primarily in the first half.

Quarterback Dak Prescott praised Lamb, stating, “That guy, he’s been amazing. We’re just getting started. He’s just getting started and so he’s a hell of a player. We started off these first two games with touchdowns; he’s had one in each game and I don’t think he’s going to stop. Just his mindset, his mentality, just where he is in life, it’s only going to get better and I’m excited for it.”

In an unexpected turn, Lamb learned he faced a surprise drug test from the NFL soon after the game. Cowboys reporter Patrik Walker mentioned that Lamb’s stellar game included almost 100 receiving yards in the first half, finishing with two touchdown receptions. He noted Lamb’s “record-setting TD toss from Dak Prescott,” along with the NFL’s decision to test him.

While speculation about the drug test swirled, Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones focused on Lamb’s definitive performance. “CeeDee was just driven,” Jones remarked. “He looked like everything he was doing was a part of his destiny, if you will, about [Sunday]. I think he was out here to show everybody what he means to the Cowboys. What kind of career he’s had. It’s a great way to put that on the cake.”

This notable game for Lamb followed a less significant one-week performance, where he recorded five catches for 44 yards and a touchdown in Dallas’ season-opening loss to the New York Giants.

Jake Ferguson, another teammate, also made a mark with two touchdowns in the game, having four catches for 43 yards. His performance, although solid, didn’t draw the same level of curiosity from the NFL as Lamb’s did.

Prescott also delivered a commendable performance. He completed 26 out of 31 passes, achieving an 83.8% completion rate for 279 yards, and scored four touchdowns with zero interceptions. He maintained an impressive 143.8 passer rating.
