Rookie quarterback Carson Beck took the field for the Arizona Cardinals in the preseason Hall of Fame Game. As the starter, he played only the first half but led a significant 96-yard touchdown drive.

After the game, Beck expressed his enthusiasm for being back in action. He shared, “From the moment you step on the field, I was ready. Last night, I barely slept, thinking about playing football again. I never take this for granted.” Beck also mentioned a newfound appreciation for the game following his UCL surgery. “I’ve found gratitude in every opportunity,” he noted.

Beck’s collegiate journey included multiple seasons at Georgia before transferring to Miami. At Miami, he guided the Hurricanes to the College Football Playoff National Championship. In his preseason debut, he completed 14 out of 19 passes, connecting for 188 yards, adding a touchdown, and earning a 125.4 rating.

The Cardinals were tied 17-17 with the Panthers after the half. In the fourth quarter, the teams exchanged scores. Ultimately, the Panthers clinched a 33-30 triumph with their undrafted rookie, Haynes King, scoring the winning touchdown.

Beck’s impressive performance has sparked speculation about a future starting role. Head coach Mike LaFleur praised Beck’s debut, stating, “I’m proud of the way he played. It’s a strong first step for him.” Though Beck remains third on the depth chart behind Jacoby Brissett and Gardner Minshew II, LaFleur’s confidence could influence future decisions.

The Cardinals’ forthcoming games include contests against the Las Vegas Raiders on Thursday, Aug. 13, the Dallas Cowboys on Aug. 22, and the Green Bay Packers on Aug. 28. Their regular season opener is set for Sunday, Sept. 13, at the Los Angeles Chargers.
