A Canadian teenager has been charged with arson after allegedly setting fire to a charter bus used by an American professional baseball team. The incident occurred during the Kane County Cougars’ road trip to Winnipeg, Canada, where they were scheduled to play against the Winnipeg Goldeyes.

On May 21, the team’s bus was reported engulfed in flames outside Blue Cross Park, as per the Winnipeg Police Service. Law enforcement agencies responded promptly, and their investigation concluded that the fire was deliberately ignited. Initially, two teenagers were detained, but a 15-year-old girl now faces charges for arson causing damage to property and possession of incendiary materials.

Following her arrest, the teenager was released into the custody of a responsible adult, police authorities reported. The fire resulted in the complete destruction of the bus and all its contents, according to a statement by the Winnipeg Police Service.

Jackson Greteman, the operations manager of Windstar, expressed disappointment over the incident, emphasizing the impact on their family-owned business due to the loss of their vehicle. He assured that they are cooperating with local authorities and expressed relief that no injuries resulted from the act of vandalism.

The damage to the 56-seat bus and the equipment inside is estimated to be around $425,000. The authorities have yet to release any information regarding a motive as the investigation continues.
