Barry Manilow Reschedules Kentucky Show Amid Health Concerns

Barry Manilow rescheduled a concert in Kentucky with only 45 minutes’ notice. The delay was attributed to unforeseen circumstances. On social media, Manilow announced the news, without further details.

Reactions varied as some labeled the late notice as disrespectful. However, many fans expressed support and offered kind words. Manilow, aged 82, publicly shared his diagnosis of early-stage lung cancer last year.

Sending hugs x take care and remember you must come first, one user commented online.

Another fan expressed understanding, saying, Please look after yourself Barry, sending much love and healing energy from across the pond.

In December, Manilow revealed his diagnosis through Instagram. Doctors discovered a cancerous spot on his lung after a bronchitis episode. Quick medical intervention enabled early detection.

Quoted from Instagram:

As many of you know, I recently went through six weeks of bronchitis followed by a relapse. My doctor ordered an MRI, which found a cancerous spot that needs removal.

The good news is discovering it early. The bad news is it requires surgery. Thankfully, chemo and radiation aren’t needed.

He planned surgery after Christmas concerts. In February, more tour dates were postponed following discussions with his surgeon. The surgeon advised against resuming performances too soon due to his lungs’ condition.

In a candid conversation, his doctor explained:

Barry, your body isn’t ready for 90-minute shows. You’re recovering well, but not ready yet. First arena shows aren’t feasible currently.

Manilow acknowledged the situation:

My body knew what my heart didn’t want to admit: I wasn’t ready… But when I do come back, I will COME BACK!!!

Despite cancellations, Manilow shared positive updates. His treatment showed progress, aiming to continue performances soon. Recently, he canceled May residency dates but planned a June return in the UK.

Manilow updated fans on social media:

At the doctor’s, I heard I’m making great progress! But, not quite ready for Vegas May shows. Good news, I will return for June UK shows.

Westgate Las Vegas is a second home. I’ll return in July! Meanwhile, join us in the UK this June!
