Barry Manilow canceled his concert in Kentucky on Tuesday. The cancellation came just 45 minutes before the show was to start. Manilow announced on X that the show in Lexington had been rescheduled due to “unforeseen circumstances.” The singer, who has been battling lung cancer, did not offer further details.

Following the announcement, some criticized Manilow’s decision to cancel so late, labeling it as “disrespectful.” Despite this, many fans expressed their support and sent messages of encouragement. One fan shared, “Sending hugs, take care and remember you must come first,” while another advised, “Please look after yourself Barry, sending much love and healing energy from across the pond.”

In December, Manilow revealed his lung cancer diagnosis. This followed after an MRI, ordered due to a lingering case of bronchitis, discovered a cancerous spot on his left lung. “It’s pure luck (and a great doctor) that it was found so early. That’s the good news,” Manilow shared on Instagram.

The 82-year-old singer underwent surgery to remove the spot. He shared that doctors were hopeful the cancer had not spread and that he was undergoing tests to confirm. Manilow opted against chemotherapy or radiation and mentioned humorously, “Just chicken soup and I Love Lucy reruns.”

In February, Manilow announced further postponements of his February and March concerts. A “very depressing visit” with his surgeon revealed he would not be ready for such performances. Despite the setbacks, he remains optimistic about making a strong return to the stage.

In May, Manilow had to cancel his “Hits Come Home” shows at the Westgate Resort in Las Vegas. He assured fans of his progress, stating, “I went to the doctor yesterday, and he said I’m making great progress and look great! Well, of course, I do! Thank you very much!” Although not ready to return to Las Vegas, he plans to perform his June arena shows in the UK.
