Far-right activist Jake Lang was taken into custody after a disruptive event near Minneapolis City Hall. According to the Minneapolis Police Department, vehicles linked to Lang drove onto a sidewalk, posing a threat to a crowd gathered outside City Hall. This occurred late Saturday morning.
The police, aided by the Minnesota State Patrol and Bloomington police, stopped the vehicles and apprehended all occupants, including Lang. They were arrested on probable cause riot charges, and the vehicles were seized. Additional arrests occurred near City Hall.
The incident followed a rally organized by Lang, which drew counterprotesters. Videos on social media and news outlets depicted heightened tensions between opposing groups as law enforcement intervened to maintain order. Lang had previously announced a “peaceful freedom of speech rally” in Minneapolis, following an earlier claim of being attacked at a pro-ICE rally.
As of Saturday evening, no formal charges were announced beyond the probable cause riot arrest. Mayor Jacob Frey labeled Lang as a “far-right extremist and known racist” during a press conference.
