PEORIA — Antioch High School’s freshman left fielder, Rylee Dunlavy, delivered a standout performance in a Class 3A state semifinal match at the Louisville Slugger Sports Complex on Friday. Dunlavy went 2-for-3 with a crucial RBI triple and scored twice, helping lead Antioch to a victory over Dunlap.
Dunlavy’s triple sparked a dynamic four-run first inning for the Sequoits, who boast a 33-3 record this season. Antioch will face either Chatham Glenwood, with a record of 29-2, or Fenwick, holding a 22-11 record, in the state championship game set for Saturday at 2:30 p.m. This matchup marks Antioch’s third appearance in the state finals in the past four years.
Other key contributions came from freshman first baseman Kylie Pfleeger, who also hit a triple, driving in two runs. Freshman ace pitcher Pearl Wenzel maintained her undefeated streak at 16-0, allowing one run on six hits and two walks, in addition to striking out two over seven innings.
Senior designated player Kailyn Bockwoldt added to the score with two hits and an RBI. Meanwhile, senior catcher Addie Webb contributed with a two-run single, further cementing Antioch’s offensive strength against the Eagles, who ended their season with a 30-9 record.
