Angel Reese recently played her first game of the season with her new team, the Atlanta Dream, facing Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever in a Commissioner’s Cup match. Although Atlanta had a stronger record, the Fever managed to secure an 83-71 victory against Reese, who is often seen as a rival to Clark.

Despite the loss, Reese continues to have a significant influence on the WNBA and her team. She achieved her sixth double-double in nine games, scoring 11 points, grabbing 10 rebounds, and contributing three assists and two blocks.

Making History
Reese has had a remarkable start with the Dream. She has become the fastest player in franchise history to reach 100 points and 100 rebounds, achieving this milestone in just nine games. This accomplishment was highlighted by ESPN Insights in a post on Thursday evening.

Throughout her WNBA career, Reese has scored over 1,000 points. With her efforts in Atlanta this season, she is likely to secure her 1,000th rebound. She leads the league this season with an average of 11.3 rebounds per game, having set a season record with 16 rebounds against the Dallas Wings.

Reese is known for her ability to dominate on the boards, previously having multiple 20-rebound games with the Chicago Sky. Her personal best remains 22 rebounds in an August 2024 game against the Las Vegas Aces.

Transition to Atlanta
Previously, Reese played with the Chicago Sky for two seasons, but faced challenges towards the end of her time there. After making controversial comments about the team, she received a brief suspension and was traded to Atlanta this offseason.

The Atlanta Dream appears to be a suitable fit for Reese. They currently hold the best record in the Eastern Conference at 6-3, maintaining their top position despite the recent loss.

The Dream is set to play the Washington Mystics at 6 p.m. ET on Saturday.
