On Monday night, Angel Reese dominated the game against the Los Angeles Sparks, setting new records in WNBA history. The Atlanta Dream star excelled on the boards, amassing an impressive 26 rebounds, breaking the record for the most rebounds in a single game.
In addition to this achievement, Reese surpassed another milestone by breaking the record for most rebounds in a season. She secured her 452nd rebound during the match, overtaking the previous record set by A’ja Wilson. Reese continued to add to her accolades, reaching 458 rebounds this season, which is still ongoing.
Allisha Gray, Reese’s teammate, expressed admiration for her colleague’s abilities. “I don’t think in my life I got more than 10 rebounds in my life,” Gray commented, praising Reese’s talent in a postgame interview.
During the NBC/Peacock postgame show, Reese discussed her approach to rebounding. “Anything that goes up is mine. You just have to have that mindset,” she said, speaking alongside Tina Charles, an all-time great.
Reese’s ambitions extend beyond this season as she aims to join the ranks of the greatest players, inspired by athletes like Charles. In her third season, she has already achieved significant success, with two of the top three rebounding seasons now under her belt.
The game concluded with Reese leading her team to a 78-71 victory over the Sparks. The Atlanta Dream improved their record to 25-13, placing them among the top five teams competing for playoff spots with six games remaining.
