Aleece Ehler’s freshman season at Andrean showcased her as a promising outside hitter. Coach Grant Bell highlighted her ability to adapt quickly in a challenging environment. He noted that facing tough situations allowed her to develop resilience, a trait vital for young athletes. Bell emphasized the importance of Ehler becoming more vocal on the court this season, aiming for her to take on a leadership role.

During her first year, Ehler achieved significant statistics, including 298 digs, 196 kills, and 57 aces. Her performance earned her All-Northwest Crossroads Conference and all-district honors. With the departure of four key players and the absence of seniors on the team, Andrean now relies heavily on Ehler’s contributions.

Ehler sets high standards for herself but prioritizes enjoying the game. She believes in the importance of improving not only her skills but also her mindset. Her approach focuses on hard work, positivity, and maintaining mental control. These principles have been central to her integration into Andrean’s fast-paced volleyball program.

Volleyball has been a part of Ehler’s life from a young age. Inspired by her cousins, Molly and Trevor Prisby, she embraced the sport early on. Both cousins played for Andrean, with Trevor excelling on the first boys’ volleyball team. His impressive career included 1,686 assists, 494 digs, 346 kills, and 132 aces over three seasons. Ehler is determined to follow in their footsteps and possibly surpass Trevor’s achievements.

Coach Bell believes that Ehler could become a collegiate volleyball athlete if she continues to develop her skills. Her focus on gaining speed, strength, and jumping ability will be crucial for advancing to the next level. Ehler’s teammate, Maya Mastalski, also trusts her decision-making on the court, highlighting her intelligence and game awareness. These qualities are essential as Andrean prepares to challenge teams like Hanover Central and Illiana Christian in the NCC.

Ehler remains committed to her goals in volleyball, whether in college or beyond. She aims to conclude her high school career with pride, ensuring she gives her best effort while maintaining her passion for the game.
