AEW Debuts Clockwork Carnage Match at WrestleDream

All Elite Wrestling (AEW) is known for its innovative match types. Unique contests such as Stadium Stampede, Anarchy in the Arena, Blood and Guts, and Casino Gauntlets have become notable events in AEW’s history. During the recent ‘Collision’ event, AEW announced the introduction of a new match format to debut at WrestleDream.

The new match, named Clockwork Carnage, features eight participants. The match structure has distinct stages to determine the winner.

Match Structure

Initially, two wrestlers are randomly selected to start the match. Every three minutes, another randomly selected wrestler enters the ring. Competitors remain in the match until they are pinned or submit. This continues until all eight wrestlers have entered.

Once all participants are in, a 15-minute scoring phase begins. During this time, each pinfall or submission counts as one fall. The competitor with the highest falls at the end wins.

Remarkably, Will Ospreay will defend the AEW World Championship in this match. Ospreay is the current titleholder, having defeated Kenny Omega in August at All In. Before WrestleDream, he must defend the championship against Kazuchika Okada at Grand Slam France.

Additionally, Jack Perry and Samoa Joe will face off to secure a spot in Clockwork Carnage. Joe recently reappeared at All Out following a short hiatus.

WrestleDream is scheduled for October 17 at the Addition Financial Arena in Orlando, Florida.
