After reviewing footage, Campbell found an unexpected thief. The missing bottles were not the work of mischievous neighbors or the local magpies, suspected initially. Instead, a young fox was caught red-handed, taking bottles by night. The video showed the fox confidently approaching, grabbing the glass bottle with its mouth, and making off with its prize.

Campbell recounted the ordeal, noting that his first suspicions leaned toward a person, even humorously considering a ‘militant vegan.’ His investigation culminated on July 20, when his camera captured the fox visiting at 2:30 a.m., confirming its role in the mystery solve.

With the hilarity of the situation, Campbell opted for a forgiving stance, charmed by the fox’s appearance. Despite the thefts prompting a temporary halt to his doorstep delivery service, Campbell now plans to continue the milk deliveries with added precautions: a protective box to prevent further incidents.

Interestingly, Campbell is familiar with fox visits. Only months prior, his cat Bruce chased away a fox attempting to enter through the cat door.
