Organized Protests Emerge at Newark Detention Center

In Newark, New Jersey, a significant protest operation unfolded outside the Delaney Hall detention facility. Agitators engaged in a well-coordinated effort, setting up a logistics and support network before commencing demonstrations. Observers noted an organized setup of essential supplies including masks, duct tape, medical kits, sunscreen, helmets, goggles, and other protective gear readily accessible on tables at the site.

Many of the protestors donned masks, and some used respirators and helmets. When questioned by Fox News Digital about their extensive preparations, some protestors refrained from commenting. A tense moment occurred as one individual abruptly seized a phone used by Fox News Digital to document the scene.

Approximately 200 anti-ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) activists, closely linked with far-left and socialist groups, took the lead during Saturday’s events. Supporters of ICE, including individuals identified with the far-right Proud Boys, were also in attendance.

Delaney Hall has been the focal point of a dispute starting over a week ago. Detainees at the facility penned an open letter alleging physical and mental mistreatment. They claimed insufficient medical care and inadequate food. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) promptly denied these allegations, releasing menu options like chicken fajitas and Salisbury steak to counter the claims.

Following violent confrontations earlier in the week where federal agents were targeted, Democratic Governor Mikie Sherrill instructed the New Jersey State Police to assume control over security. She emphasized the need to safeguard demonstrators from what she described as an “ICE surge.” State officials attributed much of the unrest to external agitators. State Attorney General Jennifer Davenport noted that five out of six individuals arrested by state police were from outside New Jersey.

By Saturday morning, the detention center had been heavily secured, surrounded by substantial orange plastic barricades and metal fencing, transforming it into a fortified area.
