Chicago police are conducting a death investigation following the discovery of a man’s body in a garbage container in the Austin neighborhood. The discovery occurred in an alley at the 4700 block of West Arthington Street around 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.

According to preliminary reports, the male was found without identification. Authorities pronounced him dead at the scene. An autopsy was planned for Sunday to determine the cause of death.

The police did not provide details about the condition of the body or any signs of trauma. Harrison Area detectives are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.
