This article represents the third installment in a Fox News Digital investigative series examining claims of influence by the Communist Party of Cuba through various transnational networks.
Earlier this year, when President Donald Trump intensified sanctions against Cuba, Twitch streamer Hasan Piker turned to David Adler for guidance. They coordinated a transnational convoy, branded ‘Nuestra América Convoy,’ involving numerous activists and delivering 40 tons of supplies to Cuba.
The involvement of Piker in this trip, now scrutinized by federal investigators, was highlighted following Fox News Digital’s exclusive report. The Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control issued subpoenas to Piker and CodePink co-founder Medea Benjamin, seeking records related to their Cuba activities.
Attention focuses on several key figures, including Piker, Chinese-based tech tycoon Neville Roy Singham, and his wife Jodie Evans. Analysis of Piker’s public statements by data scientist Jennica Pounds suggests that Progressive International, led by Adler, played a central organizing role.
According to Cuban American journalist Gelet Martinez Fragela, Progressive International legitimizes authoritarian regimes by aligning with progressive values. The organization, established from initiatives by Bernie Sanders and Yanis Varoufakis, mobilizes support for Cuba among other causes.
Adler’s links to the Cuban government are noted, including the Cuban President’s intervention during Adler’s detainment in Israel. His involvement with Progressive International, a key player in Cuba’s solidarity movement, is highlighted through various associations and coordinated actions.
The March convoy, as part of longstanding solidarity movement infrastructure, involved many organizations like CodePink and the ANSWER Coalition, with logistics supplied under the guise of humanitarian aid. Federal investigations focus on communications, financial dealings, and potential contacts with Cuban officials.
This extensive network supports Cuba through a mix of activism, media projects, and political organizations. To opponents of the regime, Adler symbolizes a continuing effort to sustain communism in Cuba.
