Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu discussed a serious incident on a flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv during a Fox News interview. The event involved an attack on the cockpit, which passengers courageously thwarted. Netanyahu commended Yaniv Chayon, who entered the cockpit and subdued the attacker, preventing a disaster.
Netanyahu highlighted the passengers’ bravery, noting that 30 children were onboard. During a conversation with Sean Hannity, he praised Chayon’s quick thinking and heroism.
“The passengers, including 30 children, are already saying their prayers. They know they’re gone from this world.”
On the flight, a pilot allegedly attacked his colleague, attempting to crash the plane holding over 100 people, which authorities suspect was a hijacking attempt. Passengers stepped in, subduing the attacker and stabilizing the aircraft.
Netanyahu met Chayon to commend him for taking control under dire circumstances. Chayon’s actions were instrumental in protecting the lives onboard.
Netanyahu attributed the attack to antisemitic hatred, describing the attacker’s motive as stemming from deep-rooted propaganda against Israel. He emphasized the level of fanaticism involved.
The incident saw the plane drop unexpectedly from 30,000 feet to 17,000 in a minute before diverting to Saudi Arabia. Capt. Smit Machchhar, injured during the event, is currently receiving treatment.
Netanyahu mentioned the attacker’s arrest after landing in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, as investigations proceed. The assailant is identified as an Omani national, with motives still unclear.
“Just think about it… If you’re next hijacked, make sure an Israeli is sitting next to you.”
FlyDubai has suspended flights to and from Israel pending the investigation’s results.
