Candy Thompson’s Journey from Feminism to Faith

Candy Thompson, now in her eighties, shares a transformative journey that led her back to Christianity after embracing feminism and experiencing three abortions during her first marriage. Thompson reflected on feminism’s influence, stating it led her away from faith, family, and traditional roles.

Thompson shared with Fox News Digital, ‘Feminism pitted women against men and children. It belittled our roles in the home and as mothers, and even our identities as women in marriage.’ Her move away from Christianity deepened after engaging with feminist ideologies during her time at the University of North Carolina in the 1960s. The ideals of feminism, focusing on equality, seemed convincing to her, yet they didn’t address her deeper questions.

Thompson recounted a pivotal moment during her college years when she faced a traumatic miscarriage. ‘I continued with what I was doing, ignoring my parents and God,’ she said. That experience marked a downturn in her life, later leading to her first marriage and subsequent divorces.

Candy Thompson had three abortions within her first marriage. Reflecting on these choices, she now expresses regret and honors those lost lives with acknowledgment-of-life certificates.

She explains, ‘I had a lot of anger and couldn’t understand my purpose until I returned to my faith.’ Her return to Christianity provided clarity and a deeper understanding of her life’s purpose.

Today, Thompson and her husband welcome young college students into their home, offering guidance. ‘They’re seeking identity and the comfort of lifelong relationships but face trust issues. These women are lost and crave someone to guide them,’ she shared.
