Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce delivered an exceptional performance in their overtime win against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday night. Kelce recorded nine catches on 11 targets, amassing 101 yards and scoring a touchdown. This marked the first instance he surpassed 100 receiving yards in a regular-season game since November 4, 2024, when the Chiefs played against the Houston Texans. Additionally, Kelce achieved 117 yards against the Texans in the playoffs on January 18, 2025.
Kelce, now 36, acknowledges that his agility has evolved since he was 26. However, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid highlighted Kelce’s dedication and motivation, influenced partly by his marriage. Reid stated, “Trav worked his tail off. That’s the bottom line,” emphasizing the pride Kelce takes in his commitment.
“Everybody questioned with the wedding and all that. Would he be out of shape and honeymooning the whole time and all that? But he works his rear end off,” Reid said, acknowledging Taylor Swift’s influence, who also works hard.
Taylor Swift, Kelce’s wife, celebrated his achievements during the game. She attended both Chiefs games this year, displaying her wedding ring and declaring, “That’s my husband,” when Kelce scored a touchdown against the Colts.
Reid praised Kelce for his offseason focus on physical conditioning, including body strength and explosiveness. Kelce’s dedication to maintaining power and speed has been pivotal in his performance.
The Chiefs secured a narrow 33-30 victory over the Colts, advancing to a 2-0 start for the season.
