A tragic incident occurred on the South Side of the city when a 9-year-old boy shot and critically injured a 13-year-old boy. The event took place on Friday afternoon inside a residence located in the 5200 block of South Wells Street in the Fuller Park neighborhood.
According to Chicago police, the younger child fired a single shot, hitting the teenager shortly after 4 p.m. The 13-year-old boy was transported to UChicago Medicine. He is in critical condition due to a gunshot wound to the shoulder.
Police reported that one handgun was recovered at the scene of the shooting. Detectives from the area are currently conducting an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
