Karoline Leavitt’s Insights and Reflections As She Leaves the Role of Press Secretary

Karoline Leavitt, after stepping down as White House press secretary, still remains influential in advising President Donald Trump on her successor. In her final interview with Fox News on Thursday, Leavitt shared her behind-the-scenes discussions with Trump about the selection process for the new press secretary. “Of course, we’ve spoken about it,” Leavitt confirmed on “Fox & Friends.”

Leavitt emphasized the interest in the role, stating, “There’s no shortage of applications. There’s a lot of people who want this job, a lot of capable people who want this job.” While she refrained from naming any potential candidates, she stated she has shared advice with Trump on the essential qualities the next press secretary should have. Her goal is to continue aiding Trump until he finalizes his choice.

Reflecting on her time as Trump’s key spokesperson, Leavitt underscored the importance of trust between the press secretary and the president. “Ultimately, it has to be his decision to make,” she expressed, highlighting that the relationship requires complete trust. “I know he’ll make the right decision at the right time, and I’ll be here to help him if he continues to want me to do so,” Leavitt added.

Leavitt’s tenure, spanning nearly 20 months, has been marked by her recognition of the bittersweet nature of her departure. It’s a decision driven by her desire to spend more time with her two young children. Despite the personal sacrifice, she describes her experience as a lifelong honor and blessing, stating, “It’s bitter because I’m leaving a job that I love…There will never be another like him.”

Leavitt acknowledges Trump’s unwavering support throughout her career in the administration, portraying him as both a boss and a friend who understood her decision to step away. Her departure marks the end of a significant chapter in the White House, but her advisory role is set to continue.
