Teenagers Arrested for Trespassing at Congress Theater

Sixteen teenagers were charged with trespassing after being arrested at the closed Congress Theater in Chicago’s Logan Square neighborhood. The arrests came nearly a week after police shut down an unauthorized rave at the venue.

Two of the teens also faced charges for possessing replica firearms. Officers made the arrests around 8:15 p.m. on Friday after responding to a call regarding criminal trespass. Despite attempts to flee, police detained the teenagers.

Last week, the abandoned theater hosted a rave organized by DJ Kula, a local underground artist known for hosting unsanctioned events throughout Chicago. Previous raves included locations like the Jackson Red Line station and the vacant Portage Theater. Hundreds attended the Logan Square event.

The Congress Theater is a popular site for urban explorers, as evidenced by social media content showing the building’s dilapidated interior. The historic venue has become a focal point for adventurous city dwellers.
